Wagonhound Land and Livestock is seeking a dedicated and personable horse-loving individual to our team. The Equine Program Manager will be responsible for the care and management of our guest horse program, ensuring horses are well-maintained, fit, and ready for trail rides year-round. This role is critical in providing an exceptional experience for our guests. There are opportunities for career growth as our needs evolve. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Daily care and handling of approximately twelve horses, ensuring heather, fitness and readiness for rides. 

  • Care and handling of a Percheron Team. 

  • Maintain and develop pipeline of guest homes from the Wagonhound breeding program. 

  • Exercise and condition horses to keep them legged up for guest use at any time. 

  • Lead horseback trail rides for guests, ensuring their safety and paying close attention to inexperienced riders. 

  • Provide riding instruction and basic horsemanship to guests. 

  • Discover and explore new trails and be able to navigate the land for guided guest rides. 

  • Maintain respectful, positive communication with guests and staff, fostering a welcoming environment. 

  • Perform upkeep and maintenance of equine facilities, including an indoor arena, barn, and outdoor pens. 

  • Assist in the operation of heave and small equipment when necessary. 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with horse care, including feeding, grooming, health management, and general upkeep. 

  • Strong riding ability with the capability to exercise and train green horses is a plus. 

  • Ability to drive and work with a Percheron team is preferred. 

  • Ability to operate ranch equipment is advantageous. 

  • Knowledge of trail navigation and land management. 

  • Previous experience leading trail rides and working with guests of varying riding ability.

  • Experience working in an equine or ranch setting with a strong work ethic and attention to detail. 

  • Comfortable interacting with guests in a professional, positive manner, providing excellent customer service.
