Sailing Counselor
The crown jewel of Camp Tockwogh is our waterfront. We have more than 2 miles of shoreline along the Chesapeake Bay where we introduce our love for watersports to young people. You'll teach two groups of kids per day ranging in ability from beginner to advanced, depending on your comfort and skill level. The perfect Sailing Counselor has basic functional knowledge of sailing, experience sailing alone and loves working with kids. They are eager to share their passion with the next generation of sailors!
Equestrian Program Director
The first thing you'll see as you pull onto Camp Tockwogh is a long driveway lined with huge, lush, green oak trees. The next thing you'll see is our stable and corrals: home to 11 beautiful horses and our Equestrian Team. You will develop a schedule with your team for caring for and maintaining the stables and our herd. You'll build strong friendships with the animals and your coworkers as you share your love for riding with campers. As Equestrian Director, you have the unique opportunity to make a mark on the hearts of our horses and children by facilitating the bonds they will build together, earning their trust and watching them grow and learn together.
As a Program Director, you'll prepare your program area for use each day, ensuring materials are available and staff schedules communicated. You will be expected to provide feedback to your staff in a series of performance evaluations over the course of the summer to aid in their growth during their experience. You should be comfortable holding people accountable to the standards you set and you must be a role model for those you supervise.
LIT Director
The LIT Directors work in a team of four individuals who oversee the Leader In Training Program for our rising High School Sophomores. You'll work with two groups of approximately 30 LITs for 4 weeks each. During their stay at camp, you'll coordinate activities, plan and execute leadership workshops and even go on a camping trip in one of Maryland's beautiful state parks!
Your main job is to be a role model and guide for young minds as they begin their transition from camper to counselor. You'll provide feedback to them, work through problems alongside them and create a memorable summer experience for them to remember for the rest of their lives. This role is for someone who works well on a team and is passionate about molding the minds of young people to be the best leaders they can be in the future!

The next thing you'll see is our stable and corrals: home to 11 beautiful horses and our Equestrian Team. Your team will develop a schedule, led by the Equestrian Director, for caring for and maintaining the stables and our herd. You'll build strong friendships with the animals and your coworkers as you share your love for riding with campers. As an Equestrian Counselor, you have the unique opportunity to make a mark on the hearts of our horses and children by facilitating the bonds they will build together, earning their trust and watching them grow and learn together.
Ropes Counselor
The foundation of our Ropes Program is trust. As a Ropes Counselor, you'll participate in a week of trust building exercises, belay and climbing safety and equipment specification trainings. You'll be pushed out of your comfort zone and soar to new heights with your team!
Throughout of the summer, you'll facilitate bonding activities with campers and staff using our state of the art high and low ropes challenge courses and equipment. You'll encourage kids to set goals like reaching the top of the climbing wall or conquering a fear of the zip line. You'll provide support and instruction as they attempt to face challenges and obstacles, both physical and emotional. Best of all, you'll be there to celebrate with them when they succeed!
Athletics Counselor
Are you the type of person who is always trying new things? Do you love to pick up a football on the beach and pass it around with friends? Were you the first person in your group to have a spike ball net? Is your closet filled with mostly athletic wear? Do you love all sports? Or are you passionate about one sport in particular?
If you answered yes to the previous questions, you've come to the right place! Our Athletics Counselors are passionate about being active, love to play like kids and can make any situation fun and exciting. As an Athletics Counselor, you'll be assigned to a number of activities ranging from yoga to rugby, football to tennis, volleyball to pickleball. We're always looking for new sports to offer our campers as well! If you're someone with a lot of experience in one sport, you may be able to focus on that activity for the summer. You'll play fun games with kids and create opportunities for them to improve their skills and try new things.
Outdoor Exploration Counselor
For the role of Outdoor Exploration Counselor, we are looking for someone passionate about nature, excited about the environment, knowledgeable in the field of Outdoor Education and just plain FUN! If you like to get your hands dirty, aren't afraid of bugs and snakes, enjoy hiking and want to share your love of the outdoors with young people, then this job may be the perfect way to spend your summer.
You'll teach skills like outdoor cooking, shelter building, camouflaging and survival. You'll take campers on adventures through our 300 wooded acres of bay-front property, introducing them to the delicate ecosystems that surround us and you'll build their awareness for their impact on our planet. This role is perfect for an environmental studies, sustainability or outdoor education student and can be used as an internship for many college programs.
Lifeguard/Swim Instructor
Our ideal Lifeguard/Swim Instructor is someone who loves to swim! You were the kid who was always in line for the slide or diving board, joined the swim team as soon as you could and your hands and feet were semi-permanently pruned by Labor Day Weekend. Your parents wondered if you were part fish and you're happiest when wet!
The duties of our Pool Team are pool safety and maintenance, lifeguarding, and swim instruction. You'll be working directly with a team of five staff members, overseen by the Pool Director. You'll divide your time between lifeguarding, supervising the pool deck and providing swim lessons to campers who did not pass their initial swim evaluation - helping improve their swim skills, increase their general water safety and awareness and boost their confidence!
Mountain Biking Counselor
You crave adventure, the rush of adrenaline and you have plenty of stories from the trail. You're Camp Tockwogh's next Mountain Biking Counselor. The campers love to listen to the advice you give them as you encourage them to send it on our miles of wooded trails. You've even mapped out a few new ones as you've gotten to know the land. You have a working knowledge of bike mechanics and can make small repairs when needed.
Camp Driver
Our Camp Driver is responsible for coordinating with the Camp Director for all camper and staff arrivals and departures from two International Airports and several local train stations. This position is also responsible for the care and general maintenance of our camp vans. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is social, safety oriented, and organized. You'll spend a lot of time with and around campers and your coworkers. Our previous drivers have been known all around camp as the face of Camp Tockwogh because they're usually the first person everyone meets!
Parent Liaison
Oh dear! A parent forgot to send toiletries with their camper! Parent Liaison to the rescue! Oh my! A camper forgot to tell their parent to feed their fish! Parent Liaison to the rescue! The Parent Liaisons work in a team of two under the Seasonal Assistant Director. They coordinate and oversee all aspects of the Camper Communication Plan - including written communications in the form of email and snail mail to and from their adult at home. The Parent Liaisons must be comfortable speaking with camper parents regularly and must be organized. This role is great for someone who is interested pursuing a career in social work, human resources, or communications.
Guitar Instructor
Are your friends always asking you to play a couple chords for them? Are you excited at the prospect of sharing the joy of music with kids? Can you play the guitar? Perfect. You might just be our next Guitar Instructor!
Our Fine Arts Team is comprised of a charismatic group of individuals who are constantly finding ways to express their creative spirit to the world around them. We want our campers to be inspired to be authentically themselves and to find their passions while at Camp Tockwogh. If you're the type of person that encourages others to shine bright and has a creative spirit, we want you to be a part of a magical Summer 2022!
Target Sports Counselor
If you're the kind of person who appreciates strength and precision in your athletic hobbies or you're interested in honing a cool new skill, you might just be the perfect fit for a Target Sports Counselor!
Target Sports is one of our fastest growing camp programs! What was once only archery has expanded to archery, archery tag, slingshots, and axe throwing. We are in need of several Target Sports Counselors to provide instruction to campers in these program areas. You will receive hands-on training and instructor certification in archery. During the training, you will learn how to teach skills effectively, maintain equipment and become familiar with safety protocols.
