Zion Mountain Ranch is an exquisite guest ranch resort located at the doorstep of Zion National Park, welcoming guests from around the world to experience a hospitality experience like no other. The boutique farm located at the ranch is a integral part of its unique charm.

As an Agriculture Specialist, you will be working hands-on in the farm to create a "market garden" that supplies the restaurant, Cordwood, with produce to serve to guests from around the world as they enjoy fresh and healthy meals. The farm is strictly organic and includes a greenhouse, 2 acre farm, and a 3 acres of heirloom orchard trees and vines. There is also opportunity to grow as the farm has expansion plans associated with the new Zion Discovery Center on adjacent property.

Description

  • Maintain the garden and other public areas to ensure that planted areas are healthy, free of weeds, and the site is attractive to visitors

  • Direct and work with garden workers, engage with guests who may visit or volunteer

  • Ensure that equipment is well maintained; ensure necessary tools and supplies are available when needed and are replaced after use

  • Prepare and maintain the soil using organic farming methods

  • Plan and plant a range of organic vegetable crops, coordinating with the Farm Chef

  • Manage watering systems to ensure adequate hydration for crops

  • Monitor crop health and take action against pests, diseases, and weeds using organic methods

  • Properly store harvested vegetables and seeds to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage

  • Implement crop rotation, composting, and other soil enrichment techniques to maintain soil health

  • Have knowledge of best tree and vine pruning methods

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Organic Farmer or similar role

  • Knowledge of organic farming practices and regulation.

  • Ability to drive a tractor

  • Physical strength and stamina to work in various weather conditions

  • Good observation skills and a keen interest in plants and healthy food production

  • An education in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field is a plus

  • Valid driver’s license
