Southeast Alaska

About Alaskan Dream Cruises

Explore with the locals! Alaskan Dream Cruises, Alaska’s premier cruise company, is seeking enthusiastic, hard-working applicants to join us this cruise season to provide a level of extraordinary service we call Alaskan Hospitality. The season runs from approximately late April to mid-September. During this beautiful time period in Southeast Alaska, we venture “off the beaten path” on six newly renovated 12-74 passenger ships, experiencing thrilling wildlife and glacier viewing in world-renowned locations. In addition, travelers visit remote native villages, exclusive bays, and company-owned Orca Point Lodge- destinations many visitors to Alaska never get the opportunity to explore.

We are looking for crew members with a strong sense of team spirit, proud professionalism, and a desire to deliver unparalleled guest experiences. Our family-owned company has a wide range of positions available, from vessel Deck and Engineering, Expedition Leaders to Hospitality Teams and shore support -- we do it all!

A Little About Us: Allen Marine Tours was established in 1970 when Bob and Betty Allen, and their five children, restored a ruined boat - the first in a long line of Allen Marine tour vessels.  Today, the company remains an Alaska Native-owned and operated business and guided by a family of lifelong Alaskans.   Allen Marine, Inc. is the parent company of Alaska Dream Cruises, and owns and operates a Shipyard, Allen Martine Tours, and several other subsidiaries in Southeast Alaska.  We are proud of our legacy and invite passionate employees to join our team to keep Alaskan Hospitality alive!

The Employee Experience

Whether you're a newcomer to the seasonal workforce, or you're an experienced traveler looking for your next adventure, Alaskan Dream Cruises can be your passport to the Last Frontier. Here in Alaska, we work and play where snow-capped mountains and dense rainforests meet island-studded fjords. While you work everyday of the season, your office comes with a view of whales, seals, eagles, glaciers and more! This immersive experience and amazing moments tend to turn our teams into lifelong friends. Grow with us, expand your knowledge, enrich your life, and add a very unique chapter to your own story. If you have a great attitude, a strong work ethic and share our passion for people, you may (like many of us here at Alaskan Dream Cruises) come to Alaska for a summer and stay in Alaska for a lifetime.

Ideal Candidate

Living and working onboard our boats provide little separation and privacy. Therefore, your fellow crew quickly become your closest companions while on and off the clock. For this reason, it's important that our staff be flexible, communicative, emotionally mature, and able to solve interpersonal problems effectively. It's also important that our staff be open-minded and find unique ways to unplug when they can.

In short, if you are respectful of others and know how to balance working hard and playing hard, you'll be a great fit at Alaska Dream Cruises!

Additionally, candidates should be:

  • At least 18 years old at the time of employment
  • US Citizens- proof of eligibility to work required
  • Drug free- pre-employment and random drug testing required
  • Available for the entire 5.5-month cruise season and complete terms of agreement in good standing
  • Positive, with a genuine concern for the happiness and well-being of the guests
  • Flexible and able to adapt to sudden changes in routine
  • Team oriented with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn

Room and Board

Ship staff sleep onboard with all meals provided. Crew members live in small, but comfortable crew quarters aboard our vessels and work every day of the season. Excellent galley teams provide hearty and delicious meals three times a day. Most cabins are shared with the exceptions for Management positions.
Room and Board are not applicable to shoreside positions.  Shore-based employees should seek out personal housing whenever possible.

Employee Perks

  • Everyday is a different view with opportunities to see unforgettable sights!
  • Competitive wage and gratuities as well as an end-of-season bonus for completing the season in good standing.
  • Seasonal Incentives
  • Guest Pass program and Discounts for Friends and Family
  • Opportunities for local tour excursions for free or at reduced rates
  • Opportunity for paid training to upgrade USCG License at end of season
  • Pride to be working with a family owned and operated company with a strong legacy of innovation and commitment to hospitality

Getting Here and Getting Around

Our home base is in beautiful Sitka, Alaska. This community on western Baranof Island faces the Gulf of Alaska, and is only accessible by sea or by air. Prior to each season, crew members participate in a 60-80 hour paid training program. This is an essential and exciting time in which employees acquire all the necessary skills to be successful in their various roles.

Once you arrive at Sitka, we pick you up at the airport and transport you to our facility and vessels where you will settle in and begin training and orientation.  All food and transportation are provided from this point forward.

There really is no other place in the world like Southeast Alaska, and no company quite like Alaskan Dream Cruises! Crew and guests alike consistently depart having experienced life-changing moments in this raw, dramatic and untouched wilderness. Come provide superior service to our guests and create unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.

For Fun

Southeast Alaska boasts countless glaciers, remote islands, an abundance of wildlife and small communities with a whole lot of heart! Kayaking, hiking, biking, camping, boating and fishing are just a few favorite local activities to indulge in. And the best part, some of these activities are included as crew activities while at work!
