About Camp Micah
Camp Micah is a co-ed overnight summer camp located in Bridgton, Maine. Camp Micah provides a stimulating and challenging environment that encourages campers to step out of their comfort zones, form strong relationships, and develop a wide array of skills, all with the support of our knowledgeable and caring staff. If you are a young adult who loves being outdoors, having fun, and working with kids, then this is the job for you!
At camp, you will build life-long relationships with campers and counselors from all over the world. In order to understand the magic of overnight camp, you have to experience it for yourself!
The Employee Experience
At Camp Micah, staff members’ responsibilities can be divided into two main jobs – bunk responsibilities and activity responsibilities. In the bunk, staff are responsible for creating a cohesive camper group, supervising campers’ health needs and eating habits, and knowing the whereabouts of your campers. Activity responsibilities include assisting in teaching or leading the activity you are hired for and care of and proper storage of activity equipment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal counselor is someone who is passionate about the activity which the're teaching, but most importantly, someone who is looking to make a difference in children's lives. Being a counselor is hard work, but it is extremely fun and the most rewarding job you could ever have. We are looking for people who are enthusiastic and not afraid to be themselves!
Room and Board
All food and housing is provided throughout the summer! We also provide a professional laundry service for staff members once a week.
Counselors live in a cabin with campers (ages 7 - 15).
Employee Perks
Throughout the summer, we offer special trips for campers. Counselors are responsible for chaperoning the trips, but of course get to experience the fun too! We offer day trips to amusement/water parks, beaches, etc. and we also run overnight canoe and whitewater rafting trips.
Many local businesses offer discounts for camp counselors as well!
Getting Here and Getting Around
Having a personal vehicle at camp is not a necessity, but can of course provide more flexibility in terms of getting around during time off. Our counselors often carpool when doing things together on their time off. Our camp vans are often sometimes available for staff use on time off out of camp.
Counselors without at car typically either fly into Boston, Massachusetts or Portland, Maine. We coordinate van pick-ups or other transportation from the airports depending on day of arrival.
For Fun
Located on a lake with all sorts of activities, you don't need to leave camp in order to have fun! However, we encourage staff to get out of camp on their time off and experience the beauty of Maine. Hiking, rivers, beaches, and Downtown Portland are all within reach!
