    Food Service

    Dishwasher

    $12.00 - $15.00 / hour

    Capon Springs and Farms is looking for an upbeat, positive individual to join our Kitchen team as a Dishwasher/Cleaner. Our dishwashers play a vital role in the kitchen by ensuring all food service utensils, plates, silverware, glassware, pots, pans, etc. are clean and sanitized. 

    Key Areas of Responsibility:

    • Washes and sanitizes all dishes, glassware, flatware, and pots or pans, etc. using a dishwasher or by hand.
    • Scrapes, rinses, and loads dishes and utensils into dishwasher.
    • Adds soap and rinse agent to dishwasher.
    • Ensures proper wash (140 degrees) and rinse (180 degrees) temperature.
    • Unloads the dishwasher and places clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in proper storage area.
    • Cleans and sanitizes dishwasher and reports any issues to the kitchen supervisor or food services manager.
    • Maintains kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition.
    • Empties trash containers regularly and places it in designated pick-up area.
    • May assist with unloading delivery trucks, loading items onto dolly or cart and delivering them to the proper location.
    • Transfers food, supplies, or equipment from storage areas and freezers to work areas.
    • Sweeps and mops all kitchen areas including the back kitchen, cooking kitchen and bake shop.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. Must be willing to work in other areas of the food service department as needed.

    Education:

    • No Education level required.

    Experience:

    • Experience in a food service-related field is a plus.

    Training:

    • State Food Safety Certification for WV.

    Knowledge and Characteristics:

    • Must be at least 16 years of age to operate dishwasher.
    • Must be able lift up to 50 lbs. and move in a full range of motion.
    • Ability to maintain professional, courteous working relationships with co-workers and department managers.

    Terms of Employment:
    Full or part-time seasonal position from mid-April to mid-November. Days and hours will vary but may require day, evening, weekend and holiday work and possible overtime during the peak season. Work will be mainly indoors but may require some outdoor work when meals are served at the Sunset Lodge Hill Pavilion. Starting pay rate is based on experience.

    Food Service

    Food Service Assistant

    $12.00 - $15.00 / hour

    Capon Springs and Farms is looking for enthusiastic persons to provide key services for the culinary and food service team in order to provide great service to our guests. In this role you will assist in various areas of the food service department to ensure timely completion of meal preparation tasks while maintaining the highest standards in food production and presentation.

    Key Areas of Responsibility:

    • Performs food service duties including preparing salads; slicing meat, cheese, fruits, and vegetables; portioning, chopping, and storing food; weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients; and preparing cold foods.
    • Prepares and serves foods such as fruits, juices, cereals, and soups.
    • Monitors food quality and serves food in proper portions and in proper receptacles.
    • Ensures all prepped items are labeled and dated to maintain food safety.
    • Safely operates all kitchen equipment ensuring it is cleaned and maintained properly.
    • Works closely with other kitchen staff to ensure effective operations and timely service of meals.
    • Sets up and breaks down the buffet line, cleans the buffet area at the end of the meal including wiping tables, sweeping and mopping as needed.
    • Transports pans of hot food from the kitchen to the buffet line ensuring the buffet is full, clean, and presented in an attractive manner at all times.
    • Eliminates waste and reduces expense through proper food handling procedures.
    • Clean and sanitize all kitchen areas, tables, tools, utensils, and equipment.
    • Sweep and mops food service stations as needed.
    • Returns equipment and supplies to the appropriate storage location.
    • Prepares boxed lunches per guests requests.
    • Prepares beverages such as iced tea, lemonade, cocoa, or coffee.
    • Interacts with guests and answers any questions about menu items.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
    • Must be willing to work in other areas of the food service department as needed.

    Education:

    • 10th grade education or higher.
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.


    Training:

    • State Food Safety Certification for West Virginia

    Knowledge and Characteristics:

    • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time and be able to move in a full range of motion.
    • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs.
    • Ability to move throughout a limited space and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs including weekends, evenings, and holidays, and some longer shifts with extended breaks, possible overtime during the peak season.
    • Ability to maintain professional, courteous working relationships with co-workers and department managers.


    Terms of Employment:
    Full or part-time, seasonal position from mid-April through mid-November. Days and hours will vary but will require day, weekend and holiday work and possible overtime during the peak season. Work will be mainly indoors. Starting rate of pay is based on experience.
     

    Food Service

    Bake Shop Assistant

    $12.00 - $15.00 / hour

    Capon Springs and Farms is looking for individuals with a passion for baking and a desire to learn the art of creating delicious baked goods. In this role you will assist the Bake Shop Supervisor in assuring proper preparation of all Capon’s fresh baked breads, rolls, cookies, cakes, pies, and pastries. Our from scratch desserts and breads have been passed down through generations and are a highlight of the Capon experience for our guests.

    Key Areas of Responsibility:

    • Prepares and bakes breads, rolls, and other baked goods such as cookies, cakes, pies, and pastries.
    • Prepares specialty items such as birthday or anniversary cakes, or cookies for prizes.
    • Measures and weighs ingredients to prepare batter, doughs, or fillings using scales or graduated containers.
    • Places dough in pans, molds, or on sheets.
    • Decorates cakes.
    • Prepares grilled cheese sandwiches for guest meals as requested.
    • Sets time and speed controls for mixing and blending machines.
    • Sets time and temperature controls on ovens.
    • Operates all bakery equipment such as ovens, mixers, and dough cutters.
    • Cleans, breaks down, and stores all baking equipment.•
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. Must be willing to work in other areas of the food service department as needed.


    Education:

    • 10th grade or higher.

    Experience:

    • Prior experience in baking or a related field is preferred.

    Training:

    • State Food Safety Certification.
    • Vocational degree or certification in baking, culinary or related field is a plus.


    Knowledge and Characteristics:

    • Ability to follow recipes and determine ingredients and quantity needed.
    • Must be at least 16 years of age due to child labor laws.
    • Ability to follow recipes and determine ingredients and quantity needed.
    • Knowledge of sanitation and safety regulations.
    • Ability to safely and properly operate a variety of equipment including ovens, mixers, blenders, cutters, etc.

    Food Service

    Capon Springs and Farms is looking for skilled cooks to prepare delicious meals by following company menu and food specifications to produce a consistent product that meets or exceeds guests’ expectations in a timely manner. Our food is one of the highlights for many of our guests who enjoy an all-you-can-eat experience served family or buffet style. The ability to move quickly and accurately are a must for this busy resort kitchen. This position will play a key role in contributing to our guests’ satisfaction and promoting Capon’s core values.


    Key Areas of Responsibility:

    • Prepares and cooks all main dishes served in a 250-guest capacity dining room and Sunset Hill Lodge Pavilion.
    • Prepares a variety of foods such as meats and vegetables, according to established menus, standard recipes, and portions in appropriate quantities.
    • Cooks meals in accordance with special dietary or nutritional restrictions as requested.
    • Monitors and records food temperatures to ensure food safety.
    • Cleans, cuts, and cooks all meat, fish, or poultry to prepare for cooking.
    • Weights and measures ingredients.
    • Stirs and strains soups and sauces.
    • Portions and distributes food to wait staff for service to guests.
    • Rotates and stores food supplies.
    • Stores food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
    • Cleans and inspects kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
    • Notifies supervisor of issues with kitchen equipment.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. Must be willing to work in other areas of the food service department as needed.

    Education:

    • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Vocational degree/Certification in a culinary field is a plus.

    Training:

    • State Food Safety Certification for West Virginia.

    • Knowledge of special diets and food allergies. 
    • One year of experience as a cook or related position in a large-scale operation.

    Housekeeping

    Housekeeper

    First impressions matter! Guests’ initial reactions to Capon Springs and Farms facilities, particularly their accommodations, set the tone for their entire stay. Capon housekeepers are responsible for ensuring guest rooms and public areas of the resort are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition while approaching all encounters with guests in a friendly and courteous manner.

    Key Areas of Responsibility:
    •Cleans guest rooms by dusting, vacuuming, changing bed and bath linens, emptying trash, and restocking room supplies.
    •Checks bedspreads, blankets, and mattress pads for cleanliness and replaces if soiled.
    •Checks between mattresses and under the bed and cleans as needed.
    •Cleans and disinfects shower walls and tubs, sinks, toilets, and floors in bathrooms.
    •Cleans windows, doors, walls, closets and fixtures in guest rooms and public areas including hallways and public bathrooms.
    •Dusts and polishes furniture, fixtures, wall hangings, and vents.
    •Vacuums public areas and hallways, lifting or moving furniture to vacuum underneath.
    •Realigns furniture and amenities according to prescribed room layout.
    •Practices safety standards and follows all training procedures.
    •Notifies supervisor/manager of any safety hazards or items that need to be replaced or repaired.
    •Follows procedures for lost and found items.
    •Cleans, disinfects, and stores all equipment at the end of each shift.
    •Other duties as assigned.

    Tools & Equipment Used:
    •Cleaning supplies such as furniture polish, bleach, cleansers, etc.
    •Vacuum Cleaner
    •Brooms, Mops and Dusters
    •Washer/Dryer
    •Golf Cart/Utility Cart


    Terms of Employment: This is a seasonal, hourly position beginning in early May until mid-November with spring cleaning beginning in mid-late March. Days will vary but will include weekend and holiday work and overtime as needed. Sundays are a must due to high guest turnover.  Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Training period rate $12.00. Base pay plus tips averaging $12-15 per hour after completion of training period. 

    Food Service

    Wait Staff

    $5.50 - $10.00 / hour + tips

    Capon Springs and Farms is currently seeking friendly servers to provide an exceptional dining experience to our guests. As a direct guest facing position our wait staff play a vital role in fostering a welcoming environment and providing top notch customer service from start to finish of the dining experience.

    Key Areas of Responsibility:
    • Greets all guests in a friendly, warm, and welcoming manner consistent with Capon’s standards.
    • Accurately takes food and beverage orders in a quick and efficient manner.
    • Maintains knowledge of Capon’s menu in order to answer guests’ questions including possible substitutions for special dietary needs or restrictions.
    • Informs kitchen staff of amount of food needed and delivers orders to guest’s tables using a serving cart.
    • Periodically checks on guests during the meal to ensure an optimal dining experience and that all needs have been met.
    • Resolves any guest complaints, dissatisfaction, or other issues and keeps the dining room manager informed of any issues.
    • Clears tables after each course and replenishes beverages as needed.
    • Takes dessert orders and delivers them to tables, may serve deserts for special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries.
    • Completes daily set up of the dining room before each meal including refilling napkins, and condiments, placing silverware and glassware on tables.
    • Responsible for general cleaning of the dining room area including wiping tables, sweeping and mopping.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Dining Room Manager.


    Experience:
    • Prior experience as a server or in food service is a plus.


    Training:
    • State food safety certification is a plus.


    Knowledge and Characteristics:
    • Knowledgeable of correct serving practices and the rules of sanitation and safety as applied to kitchen and food service areas.
    • Ability to interact courteously with diverse groups of guests.
    • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to converse with guests and coworkers.
    • Must be able to walk at a fast pace and push a serving cart.
    • Must be available to work a varying schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime to accommodate business needs.
    • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.

    Terms of Employment:
    Full- or part-time seasonal positions beginning in early May through mid-November. Work is mainly indoors in a controlled environment but may require some outdoor work when meals are served at the Sunset Hill Lodge Pavilion. Days and hours will vary including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. May include some longer shifts with extended breaks between meals. Base salary plus tips after training period.
