Experience Ranch Life Right Next to Yellowstone Park

Working at Crossed Sabres Ranch is a rewarding and unique experience. Come join our family and help provide vacations of a lifetime for our guests! While having the summer of your life, you'll make lasting friendships as well as experience true Wyoming ranch life and all the surroundings the ranch has to offer, including Yellowstone National Park.

Crossed Sabres Ranch, in the Absaroka mountains of Wyoming, is located eight miles from the east gate of Yellowstone National Park and 45 miles from the town of Cody, Wyoming.

About Crossed Sabres Ranch

The Ranch, constructed in 1898 by Aron “Tex” Holm, was used as a home base to carry tourists from Cody to camping expeditions in Yellowstone. Today, we continue that tradition of being a direct access point to the wonders of Yellowstone as a family oriented dude ranch. Our goal is to create the vacation of a lifetime for guests of all ages.

A large part of that success comes from you, the staff. From early in the morning until late in the evening, our amazing staff are a hallmark feature of the experience guests have. It's about knowing them by name and greeting them in the morning; jumping in to play a round of corn-hole with a family; chatting with guests about their adventures while sitting around the campfire.

You get the chance to work, live, and play on one of the oldest ranches in Wyoming while enjoying beautiful country, just eight miles from the nation's first national park, Yellowstone. You will make life-long connections with guests and coworkers. On top of that, you’ll always be a part of the Crossed Sabres Family. Come enjoy the summer of a lifetime while providing others the vacation of a lifetime.

The Employee Experience

Spend a summer working at Crossed Sabres Ranch learning about yourself while gaining a lifetime of experience. We take you back to simpler times when fun was sitting around a campfire, enjoying the outdoors, and talking with friends. Without TV and cell phones, you will slow down and learn to enjoy what’s around you: the stars, the food, the wildlife and great conversation.  With a close-knit work family, fun-loving guests, and unbelievable natural beauty, you will work hard, but you will also remember your summer at Crossed Sabres Ranch forever. Don't just take our word for it, read below to find out what some of our recent staff had to say about their summer at CSR.

"It was an amazing experience-- enough so that I have decided to come back for a second summer and do it again! The staff becomes a family. You get the opportunity to meet people from all over and see countless incredible views. It often felt more like a vacation than regular work because the experience was such fun."  Callie Hall

"Working at Crossed Sabres Ranch was such a rewarding experience. The awesome people you meet, the beautiful scenery you get to explore every day, and the family atmosphere you are welcomed into made it a summer I’ll never forget." Kealey Dwyer

Getting Here and Getting Around

Our guest season runs from mid-June to the first week of September. Most staff arrive around June 1 and stay to late August-early September.

The ranch is located in the heart of the Shoshone National forest. We are 40 miles from Cody WY, and 8 miles from the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park on the North Fork Highway. The nearest airport is in Cody, WY where we can arrange to pick you up when you arrive for the summer!

Having a car is helpful if you want to venture out on your days off, but staff always band together to carpool for trips into town or adventures in the area.

For Fun

If your idea of fun is lounging about and streaming Netflix all day, this will not be the right place for you. If you enjoy spending time in the great outdoors and connecting with those around you, this just might be your slice of heaven. There are millions (literally) of acres of national forest land to get out and explore, both on foot and on horseback.

Cody, known as the "Rodeo Capital of the World”, hosts a nightly rodeo with some of the nation’s best cowboys. The North Fork of the Shoshone River is a premier fly-fishing destination and runs right through the ranch. There are nearby towns to visit for a day trip. You will sit and enjoy spectacular views at sunset.

Paddleboarding, swimming, kayaking, and boating is available on the nearby Buffalo Bill Reservoir. Your co-workers will experience all of this with you and likely become lifelong friends. Once you’ve worked at Crossed Sabres Ranch, the west will always hold a piece of your heart.
